2026 rare-earth supply context
The U.S. Geological Survey’s 2026 Mineral Commodity Summary reports that rare-earth materials serve end uses including catalysts, magnets, batteries, ceramics and glass, metallurgical applications/alloys and polishing. Gadolinium oxide is a specialty material within that broader rare-earth supply chain; availability, pricing and geopolitics can therefore move independently of a single end application.
